Bio: The thing that makes any comedian successful is the ability to connect with an audience. It's the quality of sharing the humor in everyday situations, which people can relate to, that has made Ray Barnett one of the most bankably funny young acts in comedy.
Born and raised in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. It didn't take long to discover that Ray had a natural flare for making people laugh. To pursue his dream, Ray decided to make the move to Houston, Texas. Houston is one of the nations hottest cities (pun intended) for up and coming talent.
The gulf coast has a reputation for developing the most cutting-edge performers in the business. Houston was the starting point for SamKinison, Bill Hicks, Thea Vidal, Janeane Garafolo, and Brett Butler just to name a few.
It didn't take long for Ray to work his way up through the ranks from a rough and tumble open mic act to a polished professional. His boyish charm, and natural charisma with the audience, as well as his clean, yet twisted comedy routine make Ray an ideal choice for any situation. Ray has worked with many national headlining comedians such as Pauly Shore, Bruce Baum, Thea Vidal, Willie Tyler and Lester, Aries Spears (Mad TV) , Ron Robertson, Joe Rogan (Fear Factor), Victoria Jackson (SNL), Dave Chapelle, Kathleen Madigan and Dave Attell(Insomniac). Also, Ray recently returned from his second U.S.O. tour to Japan and Korea. Nine countries so far!
Ray even caught the eye of the president of Third Coast Productions! Ray was offered a starring role in the feature length, independent movie, "The Sleep Eaters." (Due sometime 2003). Though he loves acting and being in front of the camera, Barnett says that he will never give up performing live. "When you perform live stand up, you achieve an intimacy with an audience you can't get in the movie theater," he says "there is no better a feeling in the world than to look out into the crowd see them laughing, and feel that connection."
